Sojourners in the north / Lily Chow.
The sojourners came in search of wealth to support their families back home. They had dreams of returning rich to live out their final years in their villages, revered by family and friends. However, most died in the cold valleys of a foreign land - British Columbia. They were robbed, beaten and feared by the dominant Caucasian society. This book brings us forward from those early days of Chinese settlement to the present day when Chinese citizens are honoured and celebrated for their contributions to life in their communities in British Columbia.
