Duff wrote The Impact of the White Man as the first of three volumes on the history of the First Peoples in B.C. He never completed the other two volumes, but this book, on its own, has become a classic of anthropology. The new edition retains the author's original text and features more photographs, an appendix updating the names and territories of First Nations in B.C., a new list of recommended reading, and an index.
